The destruction of the environment is widespread across all global biomes, but the plight of the Amazon is often used to epitomise the scale and intensity of this decline. In addition, the Amazon not only exhibits environmental issues, but also political, economic and humanitarian ones - this is what makes tropical conservation so complex. The injustice of exploitation is what first motivated me to read into conservation, with my interest in wildlife developing soon after, and continuing to this day. I wouldn't yet call myself a "conservationist" but I have had the privilege to speak about my work using many supportive platforms, including BBC Springwatch, The Wildlife Trusts' #EveryChildWild campaign, London's NHM and the youth organisation A Focus On Nature (AFON). To further develop my knowledge in these fields - conservation and media - I am joining a team of researchers in a remote region of the Peruvian Amazon to document new-to-science research and reveal untold "Messages from Manu".
